Young K. Park
CEO/President and Chairman of the Board
Mr. Park has extensive business management and legal experience in building successful corporations throughout his career. He joined VGX Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (which later merged with Inovio Pharmaceuticals, Inc.) as one of the founding members in the United States and worked to successfully establish VGX International, Inc. in Korea. Mr. Park also served as General Counsel and Vice President at Inovio Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Inovio Pharmaceuticals has become one of the powerhouses in the DNA vaccine industry. Mr. Park was instrumental in its successful funding activities and establishing business developments with other biotechnology companies for research and development of its pipelines, licensing deals and acquisitions. He was also instrumental in the merger between VGX Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and Inovio Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in 2009. As a Board Member of VGX International, Inc., Mr. Park also helped to establish and structure the company since 2006 and helped its successful acquisition of VGXI, Inc., a Contract Manufacturing Organization (CMO) unit in 2008. In 2013, the Texas-based CMO remained VGXI, while VGX International was renamed to GeneOne Life Science.
Mr. Park obtained his law degree from University of Pennsylvania and his M.B.A. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School of Management.
Vice President of Operations
Ms. Peterson joined the VGXI team in 2007 as the Director of Quality, responsible for both Quality Assurance/Compliance and Quality Control. She played an integral role in implementing the company’s Quality System and was promoted to Vice President of Operations in 2011. Ms. Peterson came to VGXI with over 20 years of experience in the medical device industry, complying with FDA regulations in both startup and established organizations. Ms. Peterson relocated to Houston, TX from San Diego, CA where she was VP of Operations at Qualigen, Inc. which included the responsibility for quality and regulatory. While at Qualigen, she successfully submitted several 510(k) applications and led the company through multiple regulatory agency audits including ISO 13485 to gain the CE mark. Prior to Qualigen, Ms. Peterson was at Hybritech, Inc. (a subsidiary of Beckman-Coulter) for 14 years where she held multiple positions in both the quality and manufacturing organizations.
Ms. Peterson received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas.
